Why is propane so expensive when oil prices have gone down?

Propane is produced as a by product of natural gas as well as the refinement process of petroleum. Although this doesn't necessarily tell us why it isn't following the same fluctuations as oil, they may be different enough commodities that their storage and delivery cause them to have different paths in terms of price.

Wow, this is an old question! I agree, the propane delivery industry is probably not tied as closely to the oil industry as we might think.
