Being an educator/administrator for several years in another state and a parent whose children have gone through the CMS schools, I would highly recommend you consider the strengths and interests of your children and tour schools to find a match for them. Looking at school reports is a great beginning, but there are so many other factors to consider and that can only be learned from being at the schools and meeting with teachers and administrators.
What are the ages of your children? What interests do they have? What educational needs to they have - IB/AP classes, exceptional education, arts/music talent, math/science abitlites? There are many options and numerous wonderful schools throughout the area - and not just the area of town we live in and the schools that we know first hand.
If we can be of assistance in narrowing down your school choices and providing you with information on neighborhoods and houses, please let us know.

Among the private schools, the three most recognized non- denominational schools are Charlotte Country Day, Latin and Providence Day are located just off Providence Road. The denominational school such as the Catholic have 5 of the 6 elementary schoolsl, the one middle school and the high school. If you are interested in the Jewish schools they are located on Shalom Park which is also just off Providence Road. Lastly, there are several other well known Christian schools all within this area.
In addition to the schools, there are a large number of parks, libraries, organized sports and other organized activies for children.
Hope this helps:)
Another factor will be your price range and requiremnts for a home. Some areas of Charlotte are laced with older brick homes and other areas are newer subdivisions with amenties.
For me I personally chose the southeast corner of Charlotte to live. it offered me the proximity to what I wanted to be and the amenties I was looking for in an area.
If you could supply a little more information as to your wants and needs for you and your children I can help narrow down the areas to look for you.
