What's the real difference between the east and west sides of the I-17?

I've heard that people prefer the east side and homes there seem to be holding their value better. Is there a difference between the two sides that isn't readily apparent to someone looking to buy there for the first time?

Hi David,

I live on the West side of Anthem. One advantage is that we have the City of Phoenix Services. We are close to the Outlets at Anthem, Walmart, and many other retail stores. The East side of Anthem subdivisions are closer to the Community Center, Adventure Park, Skate Park, and other outdoor sports fields. I post the sales for Anthem, AZ monthly on my blog, you can see the home sale stats for each area in Anthem, AZ at http://www.KathleenInArizona.com.

The views of the desert wash and the mountains from our backyard is what had us selling our east side home in Anthem Parkside to buying a home on the west side of Anthem Parkside. Our family loves both locations.

David,

I agree with Lucinda that part of it is personal preference. The East Side is probably a little more established than the West Side. I don't know how close to the I-17 you are staying or if you are referring to the difference between Glendale and Mesa. Drive around the areas and see which you prefer. Then you may want to check out schools and other items of interest to you. Here is a site to check out crime statistics.

Please let me know if I can be of any assistance.

David,

There are the parks and golf clubs on the east side and I think more community events on the east side. If you havent been there I would suggest you drive through and you will see! They are both very nice so it is a matter of what interests you have. The park is awesome there so I could see why citizens would prefer being close to it.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns!
