Austin is in need of several industries. The growth of Austin has surpassed the services needed in a city this large. For example, we need more doctors, construction workers and many other fields that are used in a thriving city. Yes tech and medical research are thriving, but, think about the services that professional people use for their everyday and occasional use. These industries are sorely needed in Austin.

Austin is a very pro-small business city. We have a motto here of "Keep Austin Weird". We support start-ups, and root for our local business that expand out of the city. Right now the hottest thing in Austin is the growth of the beerpub and craft breweries.

The State of Texas recently enacted a law that would "open the taps" in Texas and foster more businesses in the beer industry. This has led to a plethora of new breweries opening up around Austin. Dripping Springs, in particular, seems to be the place that many of these breweries have chosen to locate.

As far as jobs, most of them are in either government, or the service sector.
