The tax percentage is different in the areas of Fort Myers. There are millage rates in almost every zip code to determine what the property taxes would be in each area. But since there have been so many foreclosures and short sales and the Lee county property appraisers are lowering the assessed values in our area, it is hard to tell anymore until things settle down a bit. I am also a Lic. Mortgage Broker. In order to calculate taxes correctly for active borrowers, I am required to go by the 2007 taxes for real estate property as this is how the lenders and banks will qualify the property to be financed. You could also try calling the Lee County Property Appraisers office or visit their web site at LeePA.org for more insight.
