I grew up in California and lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas for nearly 20 years so I was unfamiliar with humidity until I moved to Arkansas. In saying this, however, it's nothing like Houston or Louisianna. You get used to it and everywhere you go, there's air conditioning. The beauty of the Hot Springs area and the affordability far outweigh the humidity

I was born and raised in Arkansas and moved to Traverse City for nine months in 2006. I have lived in Central Arkansas and Northwest Arkansas. Arkansas is far hotter in the summers, humidity is high, but it is in Michigan as well. We often see temps hit 100 in June, but not consistently. Typically, July, August, and September are pretty hot and humid with the Ozarks remaining roughly 10 degrees cooler than the river valley areas. The winters rarely bring snow and when it comes it melts away quickly. Typically, the fall and winter are dryer times of the year, less humidity (cold air holds less moisture) and less precipitation. Often, we see drastic weather changes on a day to day basis--recently we went from the 70's to several inches of snow to the 60's within three days time. I'd say, in the summer, the weather is fairly similar--slightly hotter in the summers, likely due to proximity to the Gulf of Mexico. See wiki link below, scroll down to climate section.

Hi Kristen,
I answered this question back in July and now I know why I love Arkansas so much! I think I read the other day where some states up north were having some snow fall this winter. We did have another one-half inch this year. It was delightful to see it melt away within 12 hours. Also, the humidity has been fine all winter. Hi Kristen,
I'm John Hamilton and I live in Hot Springs Village, AR. I am a realtor at Century 21 HSV Realty. We do have some high humidity in the summer, especially July and August. However, our year round weather is very good and allows for golfing 12 months (except when we have a freeze). We have had 1 snowfall each of the last 4 years. Beautiful Springs, Fabulous Falls and Mild winters!!! Check out http://www.hsvpoa.org
