When evaluating a neighborhood you should investigate local conditions. Depending on your own particular needs and tastes, some of the following factors may be more important considerations than others:

quality of schools
property values
crime rate
future construction
proximity to schools, employment, hospitals, shops, public transportation, prisons, freeways, airports, beaches, parks, stadiums and cultural activities such as museums, concerts and theaters.

Once we have the answers to these questions, it would be easy to locate cities, areas within the cities and communities and neighborhoods within that would fit your needs. Paradise Valley and Scottsdale are great cities and have great schools, but they may not fit your needs based on the Home prices or distance to work, etc. Excelling schools are found in the neighboring Deer Valley School District, the homes are near freeways, homes prices are reasonable compared to other cities and you can find great homes in these and other neighborhoods.

Hi Eric,

It depends on the type of lifestyle you're hoping to find as well as the price point you are considering. Are you looking for an easy commute to work? Would you like to be close to shopping, dining, golfing and the expressway? Condo or single family home?

Scottsdale and Paradise Valley are both great areas within metro Phoenix. Scottsdale has many Master Planned communities that offer a wide selection of homes that fit any lifestyle and budget.

Best of luck!

Scottsdale and Paradise Valley are the areas I know best... and they're both GREAT places to raise a family! Looking for public or private schools? Both are excellent in this area. Just so you know, the Town of Paradise Valley is within the Scottsdale Unified School District (not the Paradise Valley Unified School District). Please check out my website for links to school information (for Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Fountain Hills, and Cave Creek) and links to lots of community information and area shopping.

Hi Eric,

What is most important to your family? Is it high performing public shools? Good charter or private schools near your home? Do you want to live close to your employment?

I prefer to avoid rush hour traffic so I recommend new residents observe traffic patterns from their work to where they would like to live. Also, if you have a family you may want to be in an area like Desert Ridge which is a North Phoenix planned community near Scottsdale. The kids can walk to school amd shopping. Grayhawk is another planned community nearby in North Scottsdale that offers similar amenities although less shopping in walking distance than Desert Ridge.

We have created a free relocation network that can help people more easily transition to life in Phoenix and the surrounding area. Services include job placement for trailing spouse, mortgages, real estate services, affordable home renovation, design and furnishings as well as helping families become more comfortable in their new neighborhood through concierge-like personalized recommendations of needed service providers.

Please contact me to discuss your particular needs. Good luck in your move to Arizona.
