Clyde Hill is a very nice diverse community. My past clients that live there bought in this
area because of the great schools and close in commute. I agree that a walk through
the area on a weekend will give you a chance to meet some of the residents and you
can make the decision if this is a place you would like.

And this isn't really about Clyde Hill--Just an observation. Most people who are "wealthy" are quite friendly and down to earth. The majority of the arrogant or just unpleasant people I've met have been either "faux" or "new" money. They're either living on credit or more interesled in APPEARING well off than in actually BEING well off.
Having been up and down at various times over the years, I can suggest that if you find you have a neighbor like this, remember that the neighbor on the OTHER side of them would probably like to meet you.
It's a great place--And like many neighborhoods, there are all kinds of people living there. Not everyone in Clyde Hill is wealthy--There are a few fixers for sale at extremely reasonable prices.
I agree with Daniel, The people I have met when selling real estate in Clyde Hill have not been Snooty. The prices are high because of the location and land values. The people are not the snooty types you meet in some high end condos condo area, in my experience.
I live in Kirkland, East of Market . It's a pricey area, but I've yet to meet a snooty person in any of the single family homes (condos-yes). Maybe I just don't attract the snooty ones because I don't encourage conversation with snooty people who look down their nose at everyone.
Walk around the area where you might by a house in the evening. I bet if others are out walking they will say hello and allieve your fears. Good luck to you!
Lisa,
I'm not sure what you mean by "fit in" if you're not wealthy, but it certainly is not an inexpensive area in which to purchase. The median price of homes in 2007 for Clyde Hill was $1,637,500. The population in 2007 was estimated at 2,810 residents, with a median annual income of $158,215. The seven most recent sales have average about $1,200,000. It is a small community (area-wise), but great proximity to downtown Bellevue and easy access to Seattle. I don't live in Clyde Hill, but the many people I've known who do reside there are very nice and down to earth.
Hope this helps!
-Daniel
