I live in the bushwick/ridgewood section for almost 10 years. The L train mytle/wyckoff avenue and M train kickerbocker avenue is just 5 minutes walk. In 20 minutes, the subway train will take you to union square or canal street. We are surrounded by major banks, supermarkets, restaurants, laundromats, etc. We have buses on mytle avenue will take you to either williamburg or queens. Look for zip code 11237 and check the area out.

I was advised by my girlfriends to inform you to focus on spinning a few train stops out from the Broadway Junction (and not to go past it):

L Line stops suggested:
Wilson Ave
Bushwick and Aberdeen Street

J Line stops suggested:
Chauncey Street
Halsey Street
Gates Ave

A & C Line Stops suggested:
Utica Ave
Ralph Ave
Rockaway Ave

There are a lot of new construction projects mingled with renovations in progress in this public transportation geographical area. The bus system is pretty good over there as well. You can get your hands on a decent pre-war multi-family building for a nice price. I'm hoping to have more info about food and shopping for you later.

P.S. Chauncey St has several decent properties for sale (3 to 6 families) by various real estate brokerages you may want to consider if you do decide to sneak a peek.

Any thoughts on what part of Bushwick for a walking distance decent grocery or pharmacy just general stuff like that? I have been to the jefferson stop area i thin near starr street...

The link above will take you to the NYC PDF file of the subway system. Bushwick is an interesting area currently experiencing quite a bit of renovation. If you drive, my suggestion would be to explore the neighborhood during the morning, afternoon and evening to see the ebb and flow of the neighborhood during different days of the week. If you like the neighborhood, there are homes here on Trulia listed with the agents who write in the forum. You may want to contact a few of us to take a peek at a property or two if you feel it is a place you may want to live/ invest in.

P.S. The L, A and J trains have stops near multifamily homes that are available.
