We jjust found my Assistant a perfect Condo in Arlington full of young professionals, making up a great community--Columbus is a great place for recent grads.

If you want a good urban experience, live in the Short North, Italian Village or southern edge of Victorian Village. If you prefer something more suburban but still lively, Grandview Heights is also popular with the post college set. I would only suggest Clintonville if you need to commute north of the city, but otherwise Clintonville is rather boring for post graduates as it's mostly a bedroom neighborhood. (it's a great neighborhood otherwise!)

AVOID THE FAR OUT SUBURBS FOR NOW you're too young to live in such boring places.

Columbus, versus Chicago versus Atlanta. If you like warm weather - no choice, Atlanta. If you like cold weather, no choice - Chicago. If you only end up with one job offer and its in Worthington, you would have to ask yourself a few questions:

1. Single family versus condo?
2. Character - Suburbs versus urban (or what passes for urban in Columbus)?
3. Drive time - Short (less than 5 miles?) or ok with longer (traffic is not too bad, easy to cover 15 miles in 20 to 30 minutes in Columbus area).
4. Nightlife requirements?
5. Will you be traveling much? Airport is on the East side of town.

Thank you so much for the advice. I will be seriously looking once my job offers are finalized. Right now I have a big decision ahead of me and trying to find out what Columbus has to offer as opposed to Chicago and Atlanta!

I specialize in University Relocations. My "farm" is from OSU- out. I suggest University View, Arlington, Worthington, Short North; depending on area preference. Columbus, Ohio State, President Gee, and ME are interested in keeping young professionals here. There is no better place to invest now, so--good move! FInd a Realtor and make your preferences clear.

The job I just received an offer is located in Worthington. I plan to stay for at least 5 years, while also working and pursuing further education at OSU. I am considering buying because I have observed that buying can be much cheaper than renting (in terms on more square footage for the money). I am also lucky enough to have very, very, very low student loan debt (can be paid off in less than 1 year). Purchasing a home would also help so that I can get a few tax breaks.

It depends on what you are looking for. Some questions that I would ask myself are, where is your job located, do you want to have a short commute to work, do you want to live in area that has a nightlife nearby, do you want more square footage for the money, if buying, how long do you plan on living there, what is your price range etc. I think it would be hard for any realtor to recommend an area without knowing some basic information.

There is, IMHO, more bang for your buck and more historic architecture in the price range on the Westside than any other area in central Ohio.
