Let's hear it!...
That's Easy Its The PEOPLE!
I could go on forever on why New Braunfels is a great place to live!
In addition to all of the great outdoor and river activities, community activities and festivals, economic status, and culture, I personally like:
- The central location. We are 30 mins to San Antonio, 45 to Austin, 3 hours to Corpus Christi, 3 to Houston, etc. No matter what your budget or interests, its so easy to take a day or weekend trip to all of the fabulous places Texas has to offer. When I go out of town for vacation, I don't dread coming home because here, you can be on vacation any day of the week! I feel like I always have the opportunity to "get away" - even if it is just for a few hours to float the river!
- I love how each area of New Braunfels has a different type of real estate...and has a different "feel," culture, and lifestyle. The downtown and the historic areas are different than the Gruene area. The ambiance of the "Hill" area is different from Guadalupe River properties on River Road. The Comal River and Schlitterbahn areas are different from the areas out on HWY 306.
- I love the pride that the community has for the heritage and history of New Braunfels. Even if you are not of German heritage, you can still enjoy and appreciate events such as Wurstfest. If you don't like country music, you can still appreciate Gruene Hall, etc.
- The community is made up of a great mixture of young, old, families, commuters, professionals, area natives, etc. I rarely, if ever, hear anyone say that they HATE living in New Braunfels or that the people here are un-friendly. I see friendly faces, and people willing to help others, everywhere I go.
I honestly feel like New Braunfels is some sort of real estate, entertainment, and culture utopia...there is something for everyone...and if its not in town, its just right down the road!
Valerie
So Schlitterbahn and Wurstfest are on the board... with an attempt to take Schlitterbahn back off (you can't do that to SCHLITTERBAHN!.. geeezzzzzzzz) :) How about floating the river and heading to Gruene for a Jerry Jeff concert - you have NOT been to New Braunfels until you've done that once, twice, or 58 times!
Under rated, too... are the windy roads through the Hill Country. The roads on all the other major cities in Texas (only a couple exceptions) were designed on graph paper! Give me the relaxing drive through the Hill Country.
Another unmentioned attraction - Texas Hill Country Wine Trail with 22 vineyards. Ranked by Orbitz as number two wine destination!
OH MAN... that is one glorious week and half truly in deed!! lol
LOL, the key is making sure you enunciate the "L" in Schlitt! And yes, we locals have all sorts of funny expressions. What do you expect from a town who spends a week and half celebrating meat products! :)
Wow... that's hurtful to hear! That would be like me saying that "the Spurs have won so many championships, I almost forgot they were here in town" ha ha... just razzing ya!
oh..and by the way... I tried to call Schlitterbahn "the Schlitt" one time as you so eloquently call it when I told my wife that I was frustrated that I hadn't gotten to go to the "Schlitt" all summer long and I remember getting a nice smack across the face from my wife! I guess only the locals can call it that huh? :)
Once you hit the Schlitt for a while, you kinda forget that it's here. There are so many other wonderful reasons to live here, the Schlitt didn't even register on my Top 5! :)
WOW... it's about time someone mentioned Schlitterbahn!! That's reason alone to atleast want to live there for the first 4 years! lol
I got water, I'm too old for water parks. LOL
Marg
I'm agast...not one person mentioned the fact that you have the #1 waterpark. Not just #1 in Texas, or the Southwest, or the U.S., #1 in the entire world...THE ENTIRE WORLD. Polish that apple please!

Jeffrey

I have lived in New Braunfels for 14 years now, and grow to appreciate our town more and more every day. Here's my top 5 reason I love NB:
1) We have a strong sense of community. The businesses and residents give back to those in need. When disaster or tragedy strikes, everyone pulls together. You are hard pressed to find someone who isn't involved in something (church, civic organization, etc)!
2) It's beautiful! Other people have to travel to see rolling hills, running rivers, sparkling lakes, a country scenery. All we have to do is walk out our front door! I am a motorcycle rider, and spend my weekends enjoying the beauty of our area. We just pick a direction and ride!
3) We have a strong economy that in the past years has been resistant to market fluctuations. We have steady job growth, low unemployment, and a stable housing market. Can't ask for much more!
4) It's a great place to raise your children, retire, and everything in between. Our schools are nationally recognized, our crime rate is low, and there's plenty of things to do for all ages.
5) How many towns do you know that have a 10 Day Salute to Sausage!? Our festivals are a cherished part of our culture. Wurstfest, Wasserfest, Wassailfest, Wein and Saengerfest, Earth Day, Wine and Shrimp Fest, Crossroads Americana Jam . . .the list goes on and on. We love to celebrate our culture and heritage (and you don't have to be German to have a blast!).
Call or e-mail me to become the next resident of our awesome community!
It's a good life!

Brice,
Easy it's New Braunfles
No really, inland, near the hill country, small town atmosphere, near everything. Trees, water, wind, stars, sky . What more do you want. Can I move in with you.
Marg
Hello Brice,
Being a transplant from the Houston area, I could go on and on about living in New Braunfels over the last four years. Not only are we in the most beautiful part of Texas, New Braunfels hosts a number of "quality of life" amenities. Whether you enjoy the Guadalupe River, Canyon Lake, or just the historic essence of this quaint German town, you will appreciate the all that it has to offer.
One of the best features that New Braunfels is the incredible master-planned community, Vintage Oaks at the vineyard. When my friends and family ask me where THE place to be is in New Braunfels/San Antonio area, I direct them there. Vintage Oaks offers the best of gated and non-gated properties, with an amazing 25-acre park with their own lazy river and some spectacular hill country property that I have seen.
If you would like to know more, you can email me directly at brad.gore@bluegreencorp.com or visit my website at http://www.vintageoaksrealty.com.
Thank you for your time Brice.
Sincerely,
Brad Gore
