You rarely need a car, there are plenty of public transportations available. It is a vibrant place and very European.

This neighborhood is very nice and safe. As a young girl, I feel completely safe walking alone at night. This intersection has many beautiful apartments, and also single family homes. Since there are families with their own garages, parking is not as difficult as other areas. It's easy walking distance from all the Union St. stores/restaurants, and it's 1 block away from buslines 22, 41, and 45.

For families, Pac Heights has lots of fantastic parks, often with newly-refurbished playgrounds. Alta Plaza has fantastic views, tennis, and huge dog play areas. Clay Street park has a brand-new playground with artificial turf that my 6-year old soccer-playing son really likes. And overall, Pac Heights probably has a very high percentage of residents who are families vs. other neighborhoods in San Francisco, so kids are always welcome most anywhere.
