looking at a home in the 600-900K range. We do not have kids so schools are not as important, but resale is.
Please, we will have to use a company assigned realtor, so understand we cannot engage with any other agents at this time.
Appreciate your feedback.
Mountaindale, Susquehanna twp; Hershey or Derry Twp; Mechanics burg and Camp Hill
There are many upscale developments around Harrisburg. You need to identify which part of the area you want to live in, and what kind of lifestyle. How close to Harrisburg? West or East side? Do you want to be out in the country? In a new development? What is important to you?
Make a list of the things that are important to you and make sure the relocation realtor knows what you like/need.
Hi Barbara,
I do some business out that way and with your budget you'll definately be getting the pick of the litter, especially in this market. You'll likely find something truly amazing at the lower end of your range. Please bear in mind the big river cutting that geography in half. So, if you or your husband don't wish to cross a bridge every day (assuming that's a consideration - that might cut down your choices in half. Then ... that brings up a question - you can have a river view or woods or both at your price range - so there's that ... or do you want to be on a golf course?
But I don't know the area quite well enough to advise as to the best school systems, or areas. Camp Hill seems really nice to me but I only go out there for business here and there.
Presumably, BETH knows the areas with the best schools (I'm guessing that you do have children). But ... it seems that it might be "unethical" to let you know ... :-)
Hi Barbara,
Here is a home and neighborhood worth looking into:

I suggest you rely on the advice of your relocation assigned agent for their advice on prudent areas to invest for resale. It could be viewed as imprudent (a potential violation of our code of ethics and law not to discriminate) for a Realtor to assess areas based on the term "upscale". Therterm is open to interpretation. So good luck to you! I wish you well in finding a fabulous home in our wonderful area. I hope you really love Central PA!
