General Area in Wilmington>Question Details

Meredith P, Home Buyer in 06511

We are thinking about moving to Wilmington for a job. We are looking for an area that (1) has good to excellent schools; (2) is close enough to walk

Asked by Meredith P, 06511 Fri Oct 30, 2009

or a quick bus ride to the DuPont headquarters; and (3) where we can live on a street with lots of shopping, restaurants, and pedestrian traffic even after dark (quiet is nice, but people walking around and coming out of restaurants and shopping is safer). Is such a neighborhood a possibility? We would spend up to $350,000.

Cool Springs is another area to look at.

Hi, Meredith P,

I am a Banker for Citizens Bank and I would like to speak with you about what you are looking for.

Currently, there has never been a better time to purchase a home, and recieving an approval directly from the bank is the easiest and safest way to go.

Unlike dealing directly with a Real Estate agent, when you recieve an approval from a Bank, you can choose any home you want, with any agent, and know what you are approved for and how the process will work. We offer the lowest rates with great incentive programs and easy pay back options.

Feel free to give me a call anytime at my office number - 302-421-2229
or email me at Kathryn.E.Brown@CitizensBank.com
for more information!

Thanks and best of luck!

There are lots of nice communities in North Wilmington. More suburban and within walking distance to schools.
I would be more than happy to help.

Wilmington has much to offer but the answer depends on your financial situation. We are home to a number of quality schools both public and private. In the city of Wilmington, downtown is always a short walk or bus ride to downtown from all the surrounding communities located in the city. A personal tour of the area and the communities in the city and working in concert with a mortgage consultant and a Realtor would best serve your needs.

Wilmington is not a very large city, so most bus rides are pretty quick. Here is some information on how Delaware schools rank amongst each other http://www.psk12.com/rating/USindexphp/STATE_DE.html

Also here is some information on Wilmington and it's attractions http://www.visitwilmingtonde.com/

I would be happy to assist you with your search. Either give me a call or email me with your "must haves" for your new home and I will send you some properties.

If you want a neighborhood with 'walkability' and close proximity to DuPont, then definitely the Trolley Square area would be your best bet. Also the adjoining area called 'The Highlands'. Cool Spring, while a lovely historic district, does not offer quite the ease of restaurants and shopping. You have to cross over Pennsylvania to get to those services. And there are a number of properties available under $350,000. I have a listing on W. 13th Street that is in that price range & easy walking distance to the shops at Toscana, grocery store, drug store, other restaurants, etc. Call me or email me and I will be glad to provide you with more information. If you will share your email address, I can provide you with a periodic list of properties currently available and update you as new ones come on the market. You are welcome to call my direct line: 302-429-7341. I look forward to speaking with you.

Meredith

You have made an excellent choice in Wilmington. Both prior answers to your questions are correct but I would not limit you to a small sample of Wilmington neighborhoods. There are several other pockets of neighborhoods within the area that may interest you as well. You may be amazed at the multitude of architectural looks throughout the city. I have put together a small portfolio of homes that may fit your needs. I hope that this helps.
