The sugar land area is a great place to raise a family. There are many outstanding schools, and it isn't too far removed from the city. Greatwood and RiverPark are two very nice subdivisions. If you are looking for something closer to the center of Houston, both Bellaire and West University might appeal to you. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions :)

Hi Kristin,

Here is a great website for school information;
http://har.com/school/

Once you find the best schools for your children then you can look for the houses in those areas. A Realtor can help you find exactly what you are looking for and guide you throughout the process. Let me know if I can help!

Good luck,

Hello,

Welcome to Houston! Also, if you're looking for a church, please visit Lakewood Church. It's a great church and we have an outstanding program for children with autism. Also, Lakewood Church is partnering with various schools in the area to help them establish programs in their schools for children with autism.

Welcome to Houston! Don't know where your work place is located, but Spring Branch ISD, Katy ISD, and Humble ISD have very good programs for students with Autism.

Hi Kristin!
Welcome! I wanted to let you know I also have a first grader as well so I understand where you are coming from as well as my mother is a special education teacher so I completely understand your needs.
A lot of time parents with children or pets or just maybe needing a bit more back yard space and smaller school districts might look just outside of the city into different suburbs that outlay on the outskirts of town. I would love the opportunity to chat with you a bit to better personally help you with your decision and possibly make your move a bit easier on you and your family. Please give me a call or email me today if possible and we can get started- at least as an area expert for over 8yrs I can help you get in the right direction.
Thank you

http://www.greatschools.org is a wonderful source of knowledge that will help you decide on a school. Once you find a good district, look up the district web site and find out about the programs they have for special needs and autism. I would schedule a visit as well once you come to the area. Good luck and enjoy the heat and humidity, I grew up in Dallas and I enjoy the cooler weather here in Atlanta.
