Forrest Hills neighborhood adjacent to Avondale Estates. We're new to Atlanta! Are these areas popular, up-and-coming, safe, or good investment areas?? Any thoughts on these areas would be great!

Avondale Estates is returning to its glory. A Publix is supposed to be built this year in the downtown area. Decatur trendy restaurants and galleries are slowing moving down the college ave. corridor. In my opinion, it is a good place to buy a home. However, I would buy in the unincorporated Dekalb section for the tax break. Unincorporated Dekalb area of Avondale is becoming a very desirable area and the houses seem to be holding their value in a depressed market..

Avondale Estates and Forrest Hills are two different, but contiguous neighborhoods. They both have a variety of homes, from 1920's to newer construction. Avondale Estates is a city unto itself, and has it's own police department and sanitations services, and is in the process of a master plan to redevelop the "downtown" corridor.

There are many other neighborhoods in that area, each with it's own flavor and history!
I have sold many homes in the 3002-30030 area, and welcome any questions you might have! Email me at Jo@JoKenney.com.
