Taxes for residents inside the city of Pittsburgh?

I live outside the city limits of Pittsburgh. My realtor has sent me some houses in Brighton Heights that look like good neighborhoods that I could live in and feel safe. I have heard that the city has it's own taxes that I would have to pay but I can't find what they are. Please help me out so I will know if I want to avoid the city or not. Thanks! Deb

Hi Deb - I live in West View - local tax is 5.68 mills and school taxes are 19.35 mills. County taxes are 3 mils I think? These links should help you:
school taxes for Allegh county = http://www.alleghenycounty.us/treasure/millsd.asp
local taxes = http://www.alleghenycounty.us/treasure/millmuni.asp

Good luck!

I live in Franklin Park and my wage tax is 1%.
Property taxes are around 3% of selling price.
But the homes sure are more expensive than Greenfield.
However, anywhere in the city of Pittsburgh you will get that high wage tax.

City has 3% wage tax (most municipalities are 1%) and a 4% property transfer tax, most municipalities are 2%. Split buy/sell

Kindly provided to me by Amy Fisher, an awesome real estate agent with Coldwell Banker in Pittsburgh.

Still wondering about what the taxes are in addition to the taxes I would pay living outside the city limits such as West View, North Hills, etc.
