Anyone interested in providing guidance on schools in Las Vegas? Got a 9 year old daughter. Uncertain how the public schools compare with rest of country as well as what are the Private options available. Thank you
Hi Bob,
My son will be 7 this summer, and your question is one my wife and I have spent a great deal of time talking and thinking about recently. As a Realtor however, I need to use care when voicing my personal opinion about things like schools or locations etc...
What might be a "good" school to me, may not be what someone else would consider a "good" school.
You can find statistical information by school on my site at http://www.vegasproperty4u.com/school_reports.shtml
You can also find information, standardized test results and parent opinions at http://www.greatschools.net/
http://ccsd.net/ is the Clark County School District website where you can get info including zoning information by address.
I would recommend visiting a few public schools as well as private. I've heard people speak highly of Challenger, Las Vegas Day School, The Meadows, and Alexander Dawson private schools.
When you do find an area or school you're interested in, I would be happy to set up a customized HomeFinder website for you to assist in finding your "ideal" home in Las Vegas. View homes within a specific school zone, price range etc... the criteria we can set up is more detailed than anywhere else on the web, and the results are complete with pictures, addresses, maps, aerial images and more. Personally,
I like http://www.SchoolMatters.com by Standard & Poor's due to it's simplicity.
If you really want to dig into performance ratios and comparisons to other school systems you can go to their sister site here --> http://www.schooldatadirect.org/app/location/q/stid=29/llid=
Private schools in the Las Vegas area are certainly something you need to interview and then determine for yourself which one is the best fit for you.
Hi Bob,
There are some great private schools in the area and good resource for you is http://www.ccsd.net/. This site is Clark County School District and gives you information on all the schools in the county. You can put an address in and find out which school district it is in. I register my buyers on a site called Home Buyers Scouting Program which has valuable information on schools as well as crime. As you know, we as agents cannot recommend a particular area or school, however, websites such as one mentioned can provide you with valuable information to make an informed decision.
Great question! We can guide you to a website that will help you personally compare the schools in Las Vegas to other schools. We have many private schools available in Las Vegas. The fair housing laws prohibit us from expressing our opinion on what are "good" schools, but the national statistics state the facts. We always suggest that you find a couple of schools that interest you after reviewing the website. You can also visit our local website for zoning information and details at http://www.ccsd.net. After you choose a couple of schools, we can look up the properties in your price range & size criteria to see if that might be a suitable location for you. A visit to the campus would be suggested as well when you visit. Please feel free to Search the MLS live on our website at http://www.TheBallenGroup.com or give us a call at 702.604.7739. We also have maps & home buyers guides we can mail you. Happy Hunting! - The Ballen Group
Bob, start with: http://www.ccsd.net/schools/zoning/
See if that helps. Also check out "Community Info" on my website,
put in the zip code and click on schools.
Hope that helps!
Bill
