Rivermark Santa Clara power lines

Asked by Starfish, Santa Clara, CA Thu Oct 27, 2011

I'm considering a purchase of a townhome in this area, but noticed that on the corner of Agnew and Lafayette, there is a large power generator or receiver. Can somebody please comment on the safety of this? I believe is it a plant run by Silicon Valley Power. Thank you.

While it's not aesthetically pleasant to be next to a power station, so far there's not been any safety issues from it. If you're looking to purchase a townhome, particularly if it's at Toscana, you just have to weigh the trade-offs for yourself. Otherwise, the current pricing in the area reflects all the factors, including the power station, so you do get about a 10-20% discount compared to more desirable, central locations in Rivermark. Upon resale, you can pass along the savings and your home will sell just as well as any others.

Power Lines are a major cause of concern.

One can get an EMF reader from Fry's Electronics and can measure EMF readings.

Starfish prudent to do so.

There are great studies done, based on Age of Kid, Person and Bone Density.

Bone density determines EMF factors.

Good luck.

Hello Starfish

You are right. The City of Santa Clara has their own utility company and they can be reached at 408-615-2300.

Starfish, that is always a subject of debate. You can have PG&E do a free test.

You will hear a lot of debates on this. Resale is what you will also want to take into consideration, because if you are questioning it, so will others.

All the best to you.
