together if not related. She has a daughter and i have a son. Is this a true ordinance for the edwardsville/ Glen Carbon area? I have never heard of this! And i am aware of plenty of college students who are roomates and not related! Was this just a way for the realtor to not rent to us?

Hi, Renter: Like many municipalities, Edwardsville and Glen Carbon do have ordinances on the books that control the number of unrelated individuals who may live in the same single-family dwelling. The last time I checked for a client, the rule was that more than three unrelated people could not live in the same house. Your situation sounds like it might be fine because of your -- and your roommate's -- familial relationships to your children. The best thing to do is just to call City Hall and ask questions specific to your situation so that you know you're working within the law. Hope this helps. --Nancy
