Based upon your broad request I would suggest the following places to start.
First would be Floral City which is 1.5 hours from the International Airport. This is an area that has great history is more rural with farms and pasture land.
Second would be Dade City which is just under an hour but is close to Wesley Chapel and New Tampa which has retail and restaurants.
If you are looking for areas that are a little closer to Tampa - Odessa is beautiful, Lutz is very diverse and has a lot of moderately priced new construction, and Land O'Lakes.
I would be happy to answer any questions or give you further information. Please contact me directly if I might be assistance.
First why call this Tampa area as 2 hours from Tampa International puts you in Orlando and Gainesville area as well.
Second, why rent? Then you have two moves and since you have some 3,000 squares miles to learn about, it would take some many years to know and understand 3,000 square miles, would it not? I have been working in 1,200 square miles every day for the past 8 years, and I am still learning. How are you going to learn about the areas?
What you do know about is what YOU like and don't like. Now, if you find a good Realtor, once you unload this information on a Realtor, then he/she can then best direct you to the areas that fits you best. This is what we do.
What is it about North of Tampa that you like, or what about South of Tampa you don't like? North of the airport you have a huge range of communities. Cedar Key - " a drinking town with a fishing problem."
THE VILLAGES, world largest (and growing like crazy) retirement area, like no other. Mount Dora on the Harris chain of lakes. Webster, Hee Hawwwww. Ocala, Bring your horses. Paisley, where Walt's Mom is from. Okahumpka no place exactly like it.Spring Hill . . . well this goes on for quite some time.
How about finding several Realtors in a dozen different counties and let them show you around. I give great tours of Lake, Orange and Seminole counties.
With regard to housing, what are your plans? Will you be renting or buying? When will you be moving? Do you have a price point in mind? Pets? Based upon the information that you have provided, information regarding the Tampa area is sketchy. You'd really have to disclose more info so that pertinent info can be provided.
In the meantime, check out City Data Tampa.
In order to help you, I need to know what you are looking for in a rental, size, bedrooms, baths, monthly rent, etc. That way we can narrow your search to specific areas of availability. We can also put you on a search for homes that meet your criteria, so that you can get a feel for the areas in Tampa that are to your liking.
let me know your preferences.
A 2 hr drive and you can be nearly to Daytona Beach, clear on the other coast!
Any location in N Tampa places you within 45 minutes of the airport.
Of greater concern for me are your quality of life elements you find essential and the ones you deem important.
Identifying the communities in which you and those important to you can thrive is as important as finding the home that meets your requirements. This information will allow the more appropriate areas to be identified.
You can get an idea of the homes available and ideas regarding prices by signing up to search the same database I use. http://www.MyListingbook.listingbook.com
Obviously, threre are 100's of chioces...more data needed.
