My wife and I live less than 15 minutes from Waskom in the town of Marshall, TX . Waskom is a very nice small town in East Texas. There are some limited commercial and residential development along I20 and a well ranked school and many Churches nearby. The homes generally aren't cookie cutter since there are no large scale suburban developments. Some towns nearby to Waskom are Marshall 15min West. Elysian Fields 15minutes South and Jefferson about 20 Min to the North West. In addition you have a plethora of development and retail and commercial shopping about 25 minutes to the East in the Shreveport/Bossier City area which has seen tremendous development. There is a popular seafood Catfish restaurant along I20 that attracts continuous business and is a local favorite. "David Beard's Catfish Village" If you have school age children, Marshall is a larger 4a district with generally Acceptable ranked schools except for 3 of the elementary schools which were Recognized, Waskom has 2 Academically Acceptable in rankings and 1 Recognized, Elysian Fields is also 2a along with Waskom and has 3 schools as well with 2 ranked Recognized and 1 ranked Academically Acceptable.

Welcome to the area, I found the link below which seemed about right with several comments from families and people who live in Waskom itself. I know several families from the area since many people in Waskom commute to work in Marshall and go to our Church just North of Elysian Fields.
