I live in Gilmer, Tx. I grew up in Longview, Tx., which is only about 20 miles away. We always end back in Gilmer. It is a small rural town and presently, the Jamboree is in full swing here. People from every place come to it and families reunite during the Jamboree. Gilmer was known for growing "Yams" or Sweet Potatoes as some might call them in the South. The Jamboree is an absolute Tradition here and a lot of fun. I certainly feel that a smaller town would be a safer environment than the large cities. But, in today's world, as you read the headlines, where is there a place of complete safety? There are no guarantees in today's world of wherever you might live. But, we love it here and find it to be the most comfortable living situation of the entire East Texas Area. It is a "laid back" little town, but only minutes away from the hustle and bustle of a larger city for anything you might desire and about 125 or so away from Dallas, Tx. I find it to be a great location.

Should you decide to relocate to Texas, I would love to be your Realtor. If you need a Realtor to represent you in the selling of your home in Florida, I would be happy to refer you to our United Country offices in that location.

You can go online too and search out all information regarding Gilmer, Tx. Thanks for the question, I hope that I have helped in some way.

I use to travel to Gilmer, and stay overnight in the local hotels. They have a hill 5-miles north of town that is for motorcycles, jeeps, and ATVs to enjoy.
They have restaurants, and most small business services. The area landscape has small hills with plenty of beautiful trees.
The area is close to several lakes as well. Just wanted to share my personal experiences with you, and I do like the area.
