Q N Joe, Home Buyer in Dallas, TX

My boyfriend and I are thinking of moving to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. We would like to buy a condo in a hip neighborhood.

We would especially like something downtown or close to downtown where we are able to walk to restaurants, markets, and shops. Any ideas?

Uptown, Cole Avenue area. But be cautious, you need an agent experienced in Condos. Some down there have low reserves and big to do list. I have been in virtually every one down there.... there are some amazing homes down here!

Step one would be to get with me to pre-underwrite your mortgage file. I can make you a cash buyer by getting you approved up to the point that you need a property. Then you can make offers like a cash buyer and we can close you in 14 -21 days!

I would suggest the Addison area. There are tons of restaurants and shops within walking distance and it is a very hip part of town.

While not about Dallas, I wrote up a blog / guide on buying your first home - might be helpful: http://our-big-house.blogspot.com

Hello Q,

There are several "hip" areas around the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. Several factors would help to determine which of those hip areas would be best for you:

1) Location - Where will you and your fiancee work and does drive time matter to you?
2) Price Range - There are condos that range from $100,000 to multi million dollars. Your price range will determine which areas are right for you.

Uptown certainly has some great areas as T.E. stated below. Other areas to consider are actually IN downtown, just north of Dallas in Addison, and some areas in Arlington/Fort Worth as well. Here is one complex that I have written about on my blog that is very nice: http://brianrayl.com/blog/luxury-condo-living-at-the-highlander/

Let me know if you would like me to send you more information on this condo or others. I would be happy to speak with you on the phone about what exactly you are looking for and show you some of these places. Give me a call.

I like uptown here in Dallas, but it depends on where you're going to be working.
Sundance in Fort Worth also has what you're looking for, and there are smaller pockets with walking precincts with stores and other amenities nearby.

If you can supply some other details, we'd be happy to help you find what you're after.

Hello Q N Joe! I would very much recommend finding a realtor to show you some condos near the downtown area. A realtor doesn't cost the buyer (you) anything, and he or she will be able to talk with you to understand you and your lifestyle to then find an area that will fit best with YOU and what you are wanting. If you need a good recommendation, let me know!
