Is there work for Real Estate Appraisers there??

I am about to relocate to Ft. Lauderdale from Jacksonville. I know in Jax things are a little slow right now, however the market is not dead by any means. I do about 4 appraisals here a week. How is it in Ft. Lauderdale/Broward County? Should I prepare myself for a dead market or what???! Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!

FHA approval is a must! You have to take credit cards and not be banned by any of the lenders left. Other that I would send business as it comes.

there is always room for another experienced, competent and capable appraiser.

right now, MAI's and other commercial appraisers are totally booked to the hilt...
if you specialize in residential, I would at least hook up with a big company for a while to learn the lay of the land.

Crs, Ft. Lauderdale is centrally located that you could actually service Dade, Broward and Palm Counties. While it is a buyer's market and listings languish, it does not mean sales are not taking place. They are! As an appraiser, you also know that you get work from other types of transactions and not just sales. The market here (I am in Miami) is not dead by any means either. Network and make sure you get your info out to those who can help you acquire some business. Good luck.
