Hi Eleanor,
I live in Conifer and work from home,in Bailey and throughout the mountain communities frequently. In general your broadband access is going to be limited by several factors and will need to be checked on a case by case basis.
My home does not have cable broadband access but it does have access to Qwest DSL and SkyBeam Wireless. I use the Skybeam wireless which works well. According to a throughput test I have a throughput of 1.651 MB/sec. That's enough to run gotomypc/gotomeeting pretty well. The only drawback is when there is a severe storm-- I occasionally lose service.
The service is also limited somewhat by line-of-sight between the receiver and the tower(s). Skybeam will come out and test various locations on your target property...
Satellite is also available however DSL and Skybeam seem to be more cost effective.
For cell service I use an iPhone so am limited to AT&T. I find it works as good or better than other services in the area and AT&T has an accurate service area map on their web site.
On a case by case basis I will be happy to confirm the options you will have for broadband and cell-- and help you find the best home for your other wants and needs as well.
