I have lived on Massachusetts btwn 13/14 for three years. I have always felt safe (and I have two small children). There are still prostitutes on L street, but there doesn't seem to be any additional crime associated with that activity. The Whole Foods on P street is great (but expensive). Overall, we love the neighborhood.

Besides Whole Foods, there's also a little market on 11th Street between M and N. The selection is limited but it's handy in a pinch and has a few surprising items (like really good organic frozen veggie pizza). That block is sleazy, though. I've lived at 13th and Mass Ave for two years--3 blocks from Logan Circle and 1 block from Thomas Circle. A lot of grad students live here. Supposedly L Street still gets the prostitutes late at night on the weekends. I don't know--I'm not out then. My only crime "encounter" was hearing 5 gunshots around 1:30 a.m. over Memorial Day weekend at the driveway into my apartment building on 13th. The cops found 3 of the shells. Even so, I feel pretty safe here.

1215 N Street NW is considered the Logan Circle/Shaw area. Review of crime is best done with a call to the local police station. There is a Whole Foods located at 1440 P Street. Other info may be found be clicking the following ... http://www.washingtonpost.com/real-estate/neighborhoods/Loga…

I hope this has been helpful. Call or reply to schedule a tour.

Hi

1215 N St NW is just a little south of Logan Circle, but there are not currently any units on the market in that building. There is a Whole Foods at P between 14th and 15th, there is a Safeway on 17th about R St and a little further away is another Safeway about 5th and Mass.

As for how safe an area is, as Realtors we are not allowed to comment on this topic, but I would recommend that you go to the DC PD website, which has a map of what type of crimes happen where, call the local PD office and ask them about the area. Also, go see the neighborhood different times of day, during the day, a week nite and on a weekend. There has been quite a bit of development in the area of the last several yrs, new condos, restaurants, shops, etc.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Thanks

It's about 2 blocks south of Logan Circle. There's a Whole Foods close to Logan Circle and a Safeway a few blocks to the northwest (on 17th St.)

Is it safe? I believe it's safer than when I lived there (1340 Vermont Avenue and 1325 13th St.) years ago. Back then, there were open air drug markets on 12th Street and hookers from Logan to Thomas Circles. That area has been for the braver, more adventurous urbanites.

Best way to get a sense of the place is to drive there, then park, some Friday or Saturday night.

Hope that helps.
