Hello, Househunter!
If I were spending a weekend in Howell and didn't know the area, I would definately spend some time at the Manasquan Reservoir. There is a 5 mile biking, jogging, walking trail all the way around the reservoir, as well as may water activities including kayaking, fishing, boating, or even just a glass bottom boat tour! There is also an environmental center which has alot of information regarding the native birds, animals, fish, and forrest information-even a pretend cave for the children! The other place I would visit is Allaire State Park.
This place is filled with history, as well as a steam-engine working train, different events throughout the year including a wine-tasting event and hugh craft show! These 2 places will give you a feeling of what Howell is about once you turn off the Route 9 corridor. Howell is almost 64 square miles of rural country landscaping, yet is convenient to shopping and an excellent school system. A great place to live!
Call me if you are not currently working with another realtor and are thinking about relocating!
