I see a house that was on market last year and now it's on again - never sold. How do I get in as a lease?

In fact, it was listed as a rental until a couple weeks ago - while "for sale" with a different broker. The owner(s) aren't making any $$ on it just sitting there and, until the housing slump completely bottoms (another 2-5 years) and corrects, it just may sit! I contacted the owners via a personal letter but they weren't interested in renting but that was weeks ago... Should I try again? TYVM

If it is listed you should contact the listing agent, either directly or through your own representative. If you are seriously interested in this property, put together an offer in writing. Include a full lease agreement, complete application and credit report. It is usually not effective to rationalize the seller/landlord's financial situation with them. If you are interested in acquiring the property, perhaps the owners would consider a combination lease and option to buy. Hope that helps.
