I own my home and have a furance that will accept centrall air. What is a cost range for cental air?

You really should call some HVAC contractors to quote this to you. Questions, are you just wanting to add AC or would a heat pump be an option so you could use it for heating and cooling and use the furnace as a back up heat source. The addition of an A coil and condenser unit outside for an AC only unit is not all that expensive if your air handler is set up to accept the A coil. You could be looking at $1500-2500 depending on complexity and size of the AC unit required.
