General Area in Davie>Question Details

Danielle Mal…, Home Buyer in New Haven, CT

I'm moving to the Davie area to attend NSU. I'm looking for a safe & quiet apt or house for around $1300/mth. What areas do you suggest?

Asked by Danielle Malkin, New Haven, CT Sun May 19, 2013

I don't mind living with older folks as long as there's no break ins, car jackings, gangs, etc. I don't want to be around that. I'm looking for a place within 15 mins of NSU but has a neighborhood/suburban feel. No noisy roads nearby. 2 bd 2 bth, screened in balcony/patio, in unit laudry, no carpets, small pet friendly (1 cat & 5 lb dog).

Danielle:

I have a family member who goes to NSU and besides being a Realtor I know the best places for a person like yourself near the university.

Give me a call or email me, I am sure I can help you.

Although they don't offer or allow rentals, if you have a Down Payment, you might consider buying in Rexmere Village, which is home to numerous grad students and their families.

Here is a cute 2/2 for just $35,900:

And a larger and more elegant home for $49,900:

Rexmere offers resort style amenities including heated Olympic sized swimming pool, tennis, putting green, gym, sauna, library, clubhouse and beautiful 18 acre fishing lake. It is a pet friendly community and all homes have offstreet covered parking, an outdoor storage shed and utility rooms for washer/dryer inside. Plus from Rexmere you can walk to the grocery store, USPS, drycleaner, diner and other conveniences.

Dear Danielle,

There should be rentals in this price range near the school. If you are looking for August, do not wait too much longer. Most rentals need 3 to 4 weeks for approval. You and many other students are looking .

If you not familiar with the area. I suggest to make a trip down to look around. Usually condos may take 30 days to get you approved, so the best is about 45 days before you need the occupancy.
Whatever is available today may not be around a week from now, so when realtors send you listings is like window shopping.
It will give you an idea but the inventory changes rapidly.
Call me if you want to discuss your options further.
My office is in Weston but I am very familiar with the area an the rental market.
Thanks,
Andrew Muller
