to the flood. I called an attorney and he said the statute of limitations is 2 years, and then I remembered I closed on my house on July 5, 2006. I'm sure I received a disclosure and have it somewhere. Would my lender have copies of these things?

The Real Estate Broker involved in the purchase is required to keep relevant documents for 5 years. Ask your agent for copies.

Good question Bonnie.
If you contact your original lender/broker they should have on file. The downside with so many compaines and banks going out of business it may get challenging. They may also charge you a fee.
You may also try the title company you closed your mortgage with. Same story here. Need to see if they are still in business.

Next go to the folks you are sending payments to (chances are your mortgage has been sold since you signed) They will have copies. This will take some time and there will be a fee.

If no luck then go to the recorders office of your courthouse. All mortgages are filed. Most of your paperwork you will find on line. You will have to look up yourself but the folks at the recorders office are very helpful. Now the state does charge $1 a copy.

If your looking for the wording on a disclousure on something let me know what it is and I may have a blank copy I can send you (most read alike) or if you need an opinion just let me know.

Hope it helps. Please let me know if you need anything else.
