So you want to buy it and use it as an investment property?

You can see a list of all available properties at http://www.southwestalliance.com and in your search you'll want to use the investor status as the buyer type. Normally they allow bidding first to owner-occupants unless the house is in pretty tough shape. You'll want to find a local realtor who is familiar with HUD bidding who can put in the bid for you.

If you are just looking to rent a house and not buy one, I don't think HUD normally rents homes. Seems like they did for some of the Katrina relocations for a while, but I don't remember what ever happened with that. Seems like there was talk of it, but not sure if it ever happened.

Hope this helps.
