How's living in Redwood Shores compared to its surrounding areas?

Seems like a lot of buying activities are going on in its surrounding areas like San Carlos/Belmont/Foster city but I don't hear much buzz in Redwood shores. What are the pros and cons living in Redwood Shores, especially for a family with very small children.

Dear Foster City Home Buyer,

Redwood Shores is a great place for kids to grow up. If you've spent much time in Redwood Shores you'll know it's quiet, there isn't much through traffic past Bridge Parkway and the vibe is friendly and inviting with walking paths and scenic nature sites throughout. Besides having a lagoon, bay trails, newly constructed library, a second elementary school coming in the fall of 2010, and booming shopping center, Redwood Shores is packed with amenities and young families, just like yours.

I lived in Redwood Shores for nearly 20 years and only moved to attend school in San Francisco and experience city living. Many of my friends, previous neighbors, and clients still live in Redwood Shores and absolutely love it. Whether you're considering a contemporary home on the west side or a newer home on the east side, you really can't go wrong.

I think there's been a lack of "buzz" due to the limited inventory in Redwood Shores and overall current state of the real estate market. You'll notice single family homes in Redwood Shores listed under $1M and condos/townhomes listed under $7K are definitely moving, just like surrounding areas.

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Living in Redwood Shores is excellent. Maybe the lack of "buzz" is just the reason to buy in Redwood Shores, "buy when everyone else is selling and sell when everyone is buying".
The general overall Real Estate market is somewhat flat so I would take advantage of this market if I were in the house buying mode.
Try driving around Redwood Shores and decide for yourself if you could live there or not. Redwood Shores offers much to those who live there. However, it is not for everyone. This could be said for any community in the greater bay area.
