Thanks all for your valuable inputs. I was interested in Raritan Boro in Somerset county. I was looking at a copupleof houses in the Raritan area and lookslike a low crime area. But the taxes seem a bithigher than in Middlesex county (I live in middlsex county now). Is it copmmon in somerset tohave high taxes. Forexample 2 of the houses I saw have property taxes in the range of $7K+ where as in Middlesex the same house would be only at $4K-5K in taxes.

Thanks!

Are you asking about Raritan Borough (Somerset Cty), or Raritan Township (Hunterdon cty) ? One advantage of Raritan Boro is that the prices are better than Bridgewater Township, but they share the same very highly-rated school system. There is a really cute old-fashioned downtown and many places where you could live so close to downtown shops and restaurants (and the train station) that you would not have to use a car all the time. Train commute to NYC is about an hour and a half.

Raritan Township is further from NYC, encompassing the town of Flemington. Also very charming, with a great school system, but rather high taxes. I won't go into it further until you let me know which one you were originally asking about.

Raritan Boro - my partner and I have an ADORABLE and affordable brick townhouse on our website, very convenient location for a commuter, that you might be interested in seeing. You can see it on our website.

Good luck to you and please contact me if I can be of any assistance.

Raritan in Somerset County is a nice older comunity. It is convenient to communiting to NYC. There is a train station in town as well as others near by. It is less expensive than Bridewater. If you are interested in the area, I am a realtor in S0omerset County and would be more than willing to help you out. You can contact me at dianne.senko@prufoxroach.com.

Hi Dj,
Raritan and Bridgewater are just a bit too far for any of our buyer agents to cover. We do service Matawan, Hazlet, Aberdeen, Cliffwood, Keyport which are too far from the towns you mentioned. Many NYC commuters live in the towns I mentioned. If you have any consideration of looking south in lieu of west, we would be glad to provide information.

Perhaps an agent from Raritan or Bridgewater will chime in and be able to respond about those areas.
