Ultimately, the Vikings wanted too much money contributed from Anoka County. The County and the team could not reach an agreement. Instead, the Vikings' owner, Zygi Wilf, a real estate developer, began buying up land around the Metrodome. The current plan appears to be for Wilf to get a new stadium on the site of the Metrodome and leverage his willingness to develop that area (with shopping, business, and living areas) in order to get public funding.

It's all about Money Lenny. They clearly will have more $$$ in the downtown area. My thoughts on a better location that would be a win win for everybody, would be Brooklyn Center, particularly in the Brookdale mall area. BC would be huge beneficiaries of the stadium, however the location, property value etc etc. would be a Win Win for everyone... JMHO
