It is really great that the Trulia Voices community has launched this innovative and well needed service.
I'm excited for the 4th of November!
CEO, Co-Founder Trulia.com
Comcast has OnDemand real estate services here and other places, maybe they might donate ad space for the event.
Regardless, I do think the advertising should be uniform if done correctly and effectively.

Great Idea and I'm pleased to say I have registered and represent Las Vegas, Nevada. Im a little surprised with our slow market that we do not have more support from Las Vegas. Good Luck to Everyone this Weekend!!!
Century 21 Infinity
"Lone Ranger in Nevada"
You can always sign up first, with a goal of getting at least one new listing by then - you have more than one month. If for some reason that does not happen, ask other realtors in your office and see if you can hold the open house for one of their listings. With so many inventories on the market, I am sure they will be very happy to have your help for that one day.
This gives your extra exposure and experience to be on the national platform.
Join the fun. Let's work together to make it a successful event.
A question, your profile says your are a Home Buyer in Central NJ. Bur obviously, you are not just a home buyer but a real estate pro to some degree and a quite successful one (according to what you said). .
It seems to me you are certain organizer / business that help agent to sell their condos/ town homes, specifically. The last paragraph of "2. Provide a mechnism for realtors to hold Community Open House for all listing agents. Currently, I did it buy broadcasting thru all listing agents of a community thru email addresses on realtors.com and I gave listing agent incentive buy getting 1,000 invitation flyers out to "Prospective Buyers".
I am curious as to what business are you in?
Yes, it'd be nice to have a Spring National Open House Day, but not just for condos and town homes and not limited to Trulia.
Paul asked me to review the post, and pick the Best Answer. That is a tough one. Your efforts alone Mansur are worthy of the best Answer.
Sylvia`s challenge for Realtors to go out and get a listing just for the National open House. WOW!
Ruth's famous hypothetical post. I am still having nightmares about John Stossel.
Paul with the first outside post to Active Rain. You must read his best man blog.
Ute`s efforts to take us to the airwaves on KAHI am. Not once ,but three times.
Deborah`s all around administration, legal efforts to keep us on course. Multi Task 2.0
Somewhere in NJ there`s a IT guy named Jeffery Demos, who we all owe our sanity to.
Heather O. first post , Volunteering her ability's as a graphic artist, What was she thinking?
Bridgette's, Call to action, even though she secretly admitted that she hates open houses.
Pam, She was the only response I received from my mass e mailing.
Tobie, She called Jimmy Carter.
Patti, Who plans to announce the National Open House at her next wedding gig.
ED, Just because he`s ED.
Real estate.....it`s a beautiful thing.
Hi Agents - we have only 14 states sign up and we need 36 more.
This is FREE ADVERTISEMENT for you and your sellers. The first time I hear that agents don't like FREE ADs. If you don't have listing now, you can always help other agents. Great way to get future listings and buyers.
New agents ask - How can I become a successful agent? Holding open house and getting your name out helps. Here is a great opportunity!
Check out http://www.national-open-house.com/ Are you one of the missing ones?
Please see Sylvia's post below about her challenge and suggestion for Reatlors to host an open house for another agent on National Open House Day, if you don't have an available listing of your own.
Also, would it be helpful to have a link on the website......."About the Event" or "How to Participate"? If there are sellers or Realtors out there reading this please feel free to comment or ask your questions here. Also, I have a standing offer for anyone to contact me directly w/ any questions.
"Today we challenged each ALC member to host at least 5 open houses this Sunday for the National Open House Day! As an added bonus, we decided to put a $50 Starbucks gift card on the line as an incentive!!! The ALC thought it would be a good idea to share the challenge (and possibly the prize) with the entire office, so here are the rules!
1) You must host at least 5 open houses on the 4th. to be considered.
a. If you have your own listings, you can have others host the homes for you, but YOU must make the arrangements to have them host and you must host ONE of them. If you do not have your own listings, you must arrange for at least 5 open houses to be hosted by your fellow agents as well as you must host one. We have many agents who would love to have you hold their listings open so get out there and get your team ready to go! Or any other combination of at least 5 open houses as long as you are the organizer of the 5 open houses.
2) You must email your name (host) and the property you will be hosting, along with the names of the other agents who will be hosting NO LATER THEN NOON ON FRIDAY!!!!!
a. See example below
3) The agent who has hosted (or arranged for hosting) the highest number of houses (has to be at least 5) will be awarded the $50 Starbucks card.
a. Should there be a tie, we will hold a drawing for the winner
We will be compiling a master “Keller Williams, Open House Tour†sheet for you to hand out at your open house, so we need your information no later then noon on Friday so that we can get this list to you Friday by 5pm."
Yes, a follow up e-mail went out minutes later to remind everybody to register their open house at http://www.national-open-house.com

And now Mansur we have big 13 in California. :-) Steve has been rallying hard for this event at all the meetings and local Boards.
Please note too we have added an additional link to the efforts in Southern California.
Oh and it has been a lot of work, but it is worth it. The people we have gotten to sign up have been so positive and kind. We have e-met so many great people. People are excited about this event.
Come on out on November 4th!
In case you were a die-hard football fan: Dallas, Philly, Chicago, Miami, NY, St. Louis, Baltimore and Pittsburgh are on a bye, night game or on MNF. :-)
How difficult is it to get your picture, website registered on the http://www.national-open-house.com ?
Heather, Deborah and Ruth worked together (with other input) to get this site as easy to enter as possible for you!
Just go and submit your picture, enter your website info and later on, come back and submit the property (ties) you want to hold open house for on
NOVEMBER 4, SUNDAY, NATIONAL OPEN HOUSE DAY - Daylight Savings Day and time for your sellers to get more exposure and buyers to have more opportunity to shop online for their perfect home.
(cough cough-best answer) :-)
Two new agents from Coldwell Banker - Roseville / Granite Bay office.
I am trying to get my family Maryland listing on Mansur.
Submit a request for a story to your local TV station or newspaper with the press release.
Thanks to all that have posted links and logos on their websites, active rain and blogs.
Agents and sellers: Go to http://www.national-open-house.com to learn how to participate in the Nov. 4th event.
Buyers: All you have to do is show up! Participating listings will be posted on the site, but bear with us as we are currently just trying to keep up with the number of agents who are registering.
The purpose of this thread has segwayed from conceptual to practical. We're not just thinking aloud now, we are addressing specific means of implementation. Join the discussion as we'd love your input! The effort is fully a "go," now we just need to decide how to market this huge effort to the fullest.
I'd love to see all of the agents on this forum participate. Think we wouldn't get any media buzz from Realtors in different companies across the nation making a push for one concerted sales event? Great publicity possibilities within your local markets, and a great way to generate some traffic for your sellers. Show your market that you are adapting creative strategies in challenging times!
I'm working on the right contact person for the Associated Press. I've contacted Oprah and the TV show National Open House. Other sources I'm waiting for us to actually have the press release ready. Does anyone have some national contacts?
I have heard the suggestion of Habitat for Humanity menitoned a few times, now. I would be supportive of that effort. That doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a requirement to partiicpate, though.
Any new participants today?

We need to come up with sound bites. Everyone, brain storm. Go through your answers on Trulia and pick out your most profound statements. We also need the best longer educational answers too. I can visualize one of Deborah's most profound posts about why people aren't buying. I had emailed her privately back then saying that her post was a news story.
Last night at a showing, the agent said the buyers had taken their home off the market. My $100,000 price reduction spurred them into action. I wished I had Deborah's essay in my marketing brochure along with my comps showing the house is worth about $200,000 more.
Some of us have talked about writing books. Copyrights are very different from patents. If you come up with an idea or invention and don't patent it and someone else does, you loose. It's a race to the courthouse type law. But with copyrights, the first person to say/write something is the rightful owner. You don't have to file what you wrote with the U.S. Copyright Office in order to use the copyright symbol. A trademark splits the difference of the two rules.
Also, start finding sponsors.
Sorry, just got back from taking my oldest son to college (freshman). After 10+ hours of driving and last minute shopping in one day, I can't think straight yet.
But I am in.
November 4th ( Daylight savings ) fall back , Save on time, save on a house. It`s time to buy?
The Idea of doing something like this is to get the word out.
"Now is the time to buy a house!"
As Realtors we can not wait for the media to decide, That they know real estate, that they can tell the general public it`s time to buy.
Of course the spring would be a better time for your colleagues in the mid West and the East
With the challenging weather.
Serve Hot chocolate.
This market is Dead, and it needs good news now!
We have all the Media we need, Blogs.
Sunday November 4th 12pm to 5pm.
I think almost everyone here in the Voices community loves your idea! IMHO, October 21st is too soon. I'd like to see good planning and plenty of time to get the word out nationally (blogging, local BoR postings, maybe NAR and Trulia will help?), can we plan it for spring? It should be on a non-holiday weekend, and I think we'll need two days to adequately cover all the listings. Sylvia has pointed out that it may be a good promotional opportunity for Trulia (Sylvia, please expound on this idea); and Heather O had said she'd help with a "Trulia National Open House" logo (given Trulia's permission, of course). I would like to see this as a Trulia initiative, with the event open for participation by everyone: agents, REALTORs, FSBOs, discounters, etc. Anyone who wants to join the cause. The more, the better! I think first step is a vote here...
To all respondents:
Fall or Spring?
One day (Sunday) or two (Saturday and Sunday)?
Will you help and how?
That should get the ball rolling in the right direction... Can't wait to see your responses!
I called about 10 Realtors in Maui until I spoke to somone live . Mr. Ken Smith of Maui Real Estate, was driving when I called, he told me to email him the info they were having a open tomorrow. He would register in the next two hours.
So now we have NY to Hawaii, that is cool.
