I have a copy of a June 22, 1949 letter signed by Claude. It is a request to a local resident for permission to vacate streets that were mapped but never opened. They are in the Sheep Hill area. I'll be happy to give it to you if you wish. Just email me and we can arrange for you to pick it up. - Dave Yorkston gyorkston@aol.com
really? which house are you looking at? Barry and Susan's? I'd guess so, since that's for sale. Congrats to you and to them, its a lovely home. I think you are really going to like the neighborhood too, lots of good folks.
Under contract to purchase a home on Sheep Hill and want to learn as much as I can about the history of the Helen and Claude. Keep me posted.
Helen did a portrait of me in the 1950's, and an earlier one of my Aunt, both of which are now in our home in Pennsylvania.

No links yet, but I'm helping to set up a website about the houses, which will include links to her artwork. I'll post here when its up and running.
Are there any web links for her artwork?
Hello. I just saw your response now. How interesting that she was your great aunt! Mary Champenois moved a few years back (but only a few miles away), Greentree is still in her house on Sheep Hill. I just sold my house across the street from hers, with two kids it was getting a bit cramped. I still have the paintings, I love them for what they are, and who knows? Maybe when the kids get older I'll find myself in one of these fine old homes again.
Thanks for the response.
Hello,
I was researching information on The Habberstad Project that was started in 1990's by Mary Champlenois and Joan Greentree in Boonton and came across your inquiry form August 8. 2007.
Helen Habberstad was my great aunt and I often visited her and Claude on Sheep Hill Road. I always slept in the downstairs bedroom. Do you know who the present owners of this house are?
Your question pertaining to her paintings in the Boonton area; I saw many on a Habberstad House walk in the 1990's. She was primarily a portrait painter. Try contacting Mary Champlenois - 334-3329 or Joan Greentree-229-8540. I haven't had contact with them in 17 years, so the numbers may no longer be accurate.
Please contact me if you have any questions and if you know who purchased the Sheep Hill house.
Sincerely
Carole Naquin
I live in a Habberstad home, and have three of her paintings. What is your interest? I know several years ago there was an exhibit with several of her pieces at the Boonton Historical Society. I could also put you in touch with some historians who have information on her and Claude.
Not sure how often I'll check here, so you'd be best to contact me at my gmail account, robinfante at.
I dont know if there are any of her paintings for sale anymore. Buy you can go to http://www.web.artprice.com/artistdetails.aspx?idarti=NjA1Mj
