The job market in the area is still pretty good. We have seen some slow down because of the economy but "things" are still happening. The widening of Hwy. 49 from Lake Wylie to Charlotte has really opened things up. Lots of new stores, restaurants, and shops on the North Carolina side. Most located around the Hwy. 49 and Hwy 161 intersection at the new Rivergate shopping center. Several medical facilities are planned. A new shopping center is being built now in Lake Wylie with Lowes and Super Wal-Mart being the anchors with several outparcels for Walgreen, McDonalds, Taco Bell, a couple of banks, and others. All that means more jobs. Good luck with your decision!

Teresa,

Have you considered the Mooresville area? Lowe's is headquartered there and there are many other companies moving into that area. It's a great place to live!

My mother-in-law owns a real estate company in Mooresville and would be happy to give you some local area information if you are interested.

Let me know if you would like her contact information.

Hi Teresa,
The Housing Market is still strong in the area. What is your background of work history in? The Lake Wylie and South Charlotte market have changed alot in the last few years. This is good for teaching, nursing, realestate, or your general Administrative positions, and sales. But because of the Sub Prime lending and financing problems right now the banking industry is alittle shaken. IF you base your answers on the jobs circulating throught monster.com and careerbuilder.com you would think we are holding strong right now. http://WWW.theheraldonline.com has a section that you can search jobs from charlotte to Rock hill and all in between! listed by city and categories! Check it out!

IF there is anything else I can help you with please feel free to contact me.

Hi Teresa,
From your posting, you have lived here before. I use to attend a church with a Teresa Lawson that opened a day care in Rock Hill. Would that be you? To answer your question, there are an abundance of jobs in the Lake Wylie/Charlotte, Fort Mill/Carowinds Area. In addition to the jobsearch that the other guy mentioned you can also contact YOUR local "JobService" or Unemployment office and ask the for the website of the LOCAL unemployment office for Charlotte and Rock Hill. There are job postings on line that are the same as if you went straight into the office. The majority of the CORPORATE type jobs are RESUME only....so you could email or fax your resume as needed before you ever move to the area. Some companies offer moving assistance as well, depending on your profession. When considering your move to the area, I hope that you will give me the opportunity to show you some properties available if you are planning on buying. Good luck in your search!

Having SOLD homes in this area for 17 years I can say the market is strong. Very low unemployment rates and we have a national company moving into Lake Wylie. They will housed originally in Ft Mill ,but are building now in Lake Wylie. Glad you are thinking about coming back!! Sandy Johnson, Realtor

Teresa;

The job market here in the Charlotte area is strong. In fact, this area has one of the lowest umeployment rates in the country. Many large companies like Chase are opening in Fort Mill and hiring. Charlotte, is really close too and many businesses are located on the south side of the city and many commute from the lake wylie area. The best place to search for a job is on http://www.careerbuilder.com.
