Jennifer,
Check out my listing at http://www.vrbo.com My listing number is 344581. I own the unit being advertised. I specialize in Oceanfront studio condo's. We are right on the beach. This is the most cost effective way to stay on the beach along the Crystal Coast in North Carolina.

Have you looked at VRBO.com? It's a vacation rental by owner site and you can search anywhere in the US. Also have a friend that rents a small house in MHC for $400 a week but don't have all the info right now. So if you are interested, just email me at lucy8646@yahoo.com.

No way does it preclude you from typical vacation rentals. Most rentals are 6+ days so 5 is just one less. Rent for a week (6+ days) and leave after 5, that is the easiest way. The savings from trying to find a partial week (what we call something less than a full week of 6+ days) will be small depending on how expensive the house is. You still will pay almost as much as a full week because you still pay the taxes, insurance and admin fees which makes your savings much less than you are thinking it will be. Plus by booking a full week you will be able to reserve a house in advance, partial week rentals can only be reserved the week you are looking for because the rental company will attempt to book a full week all the way up to the week itself, if they can't then they will book it for a partial week IF the owner of that house allows partials, some don't (like me).

I suggest you do this, find a rental that you would like to rent and call the company and ask for a total price for the week, then ask what the total price would be for 5 days in that same house. make sure they quote you the full price with taxes, fees, etc all included and not just the prorated rent of the house alone. You will see what I mean.
