I am a real estate agent who would like to hire an assistant to negotiate my short sales with the bank, does she have to be licensed?

You can have an unlicensed assistant BUT they can only do clerical work and CANNOT do anything a licensed assistant could. Probably best to hire a licensed assistant who can do it all an not violate local laws.

Yes. Anything that involves real estate sales, the person must be licensed.
