George,

Typically around here the owners want 12 month lease on a home. Sometimes we can work them down to six, but there are very few that are furnished. Typically what we'd put you in for 3-4-5 month lease is corporate apt in this area or extended stay hotel. There may be some exceptions to short term lease in Frisco area due to the number of homes on the market. We'd typically need to be about 30 days out from the time you want to lease and then contact the owners to see if we can negotiate month to month short term lease. Some might accept to get you in the home. It is difficult for owners to do this because typically here they pay one month rent to agent at lease signing. So if they lease for 3 months, they have to put your price up so high to recover that it doesn't make sense for you. Also they'll typically have another vacant period after you move out, unless you're going to allow showings while you are there. Again, I'm not sure I've ever seen a home furnished here, but that doesn't mean you couldn't rent your own furniture. In my opinion though...renting a corp apt or extended stay hotel is the way to go for you. I think you'll just have less frustrations and spend a lot less time working that solution than trying to find a furnished home for that short period. One other idea is to be a home minder. We have some contacts who will let you live in a home for utilities if you will take care of it while it's on the market. You have to allow showings and be ready to move with 30 days notice. You'd also have to rent furniture in most cases. Let me know if I can help.

George: I am not sure about Frisco, but our San Diego MLS carries listings of short term furnished rentals. You may also wish to check craigslist.com as well as VRBO.com for furnished availabilities.

I would also suggest calling a local Realtor to see if there are any listed properties that meet your criteria.

Hope this helps!
