Considering a relocation package to Greensboro, NC.

My wife and I are considering a relocation offer from my employer. We are both 30 and expecting our first child in April. We're looking for great school districts with newer homes priced in the low $200's? Thanks.

A paid opportunity to leave Florida, I would not hesitate. According to the MLS there are 269 homes for sale priced between $190,000 and $240,000 that were built built between 1990 and 2009. There is ample supply and building a home is always an opportunity.

Regarding the area, Guilford County has @475,000 residents with the largest city being Greensboro with @ 257,000 residents. Stories are frequently told about families being transferred in and then refusing a promotion and a transfer out years later. I would not call it the greatest place to live for singles, based on what my young friends tell me, but as a father and native, there are few better places raise a family.

Please vist my home search tool at http://www.CJAHomes.com for 24/7 access to all homes listed in the Triad. We are known for our "nickel" tours, so please give the office a call for a complimentary, 60 minute tour of the area. In any event, good luck. Andy

Hi Mike! I am a transplant from California and I can say that our relocation here could not have been a better choice! We love Greensboro and definitely consider it our home, even though we were all born and raised in CA. School reports are available online at http://www.ncreportcards.org where you can review your particular needs for your child. We have many wonderful communities in all areas of the city and county and your needs can get very specific to narrow down your search.

My team and I are happy to meet with you prior to your decision should you wish to come here to see what your opportunities are, as well as to send you our relocation package. I am actually sending another package out today to a doctor relocating here from NY, so please call or email me with your address and we will get one sent out to you right away.

I look forward to meeting with you in the future! Good luck and have a GREAT day!!

Jennie

Hi Mike,

I have worked with a number of folks relocating to the Triad area, Winston Salem, Greensboro and High Point. There are many great surprises in store for you here and I would welcome the opportunity to help you explore!

The price range that you are seeking will offer many great homes to choose from. You can use sites such as Listingbook or REALTOR.com to search for homes and see EVERYTHING on the market, whether it fits your needs or not. Or, with a little more detail, I could create a custom home search that would help you work through the plethera of homes and narrow it down to a managable selection. Is being within a proximity to your job important? Do you prefer a den, office, basement, or sunroom? Maybe a 3 car garage is important or extra storage. Whatever your needs, the tool I use elimantes homes that fall outside of your perimeters, making your home search more enjoyable. If you would like to try the custom search, just fill in the information and my web page listed below. A custom webpage link will be e-mailed to you within 24 hours.

In addition to the resource for schools below, I would also recommend verifying the schools assigned to any property you may have an interest in. http://www.guilford.k12.nc.us/locator0809/streetsearch.aspx
From this link you can type in the street name to confirm the schools, then take it a step further and pull the school report card directly from the county website.

I would be happy to take a day or two to give you the guided tour if that would help with your decision. Let me know if there is any other info that would benefit you in this move.

Best Wishes!
Len Montgomery

Mike,
Greensboro is a great place to be and after living all over the southeast including Florida I have chosen here to settle down and stay. Greensboro is in Guilford county and as far as schools go we have new schools throughout the northern part of the county. The website Heather gave you is the best site to look at for the school report cards. As NC Realtors we are not permitted to give opinions on what areas are good school districts or otherwise. We can provide all the facts and sources of information you need to help you make that decision.
I have found that with my relocation clients I will usually schedule a day for a tour of different areas in order to zero in on a specific one that my clients would like to focus on. Now in our area we also use Listingbook.com which is a website that ties directly to the Triad area MLS database and allows you to search the entire MLS as if you were an agent. Now granted you do not get to see everything we do but any questions you have are just a mouse click away by leaving a " note" on the site which automatically triggers an email to the agent that they have a question waiting for them.
Now depending on where you chose there are of course all sorts of choices of neighborhoods in your price range. We also have excellent parks and bike trails and are expanding on those all the time. Greensboro is even working on their fitness loop around Greensboro a track that encompasses the neighborhoods within Greensboro's core. That will be linked to all the other parks such as Latham Park, Battleground Park, Bur-Mil park and more.
Coming from Orlando I would think one of the attractive things you will find is that you can be close to everything and not have to deal with the traffic that I am sure you are use to in FL.
So just let us know if you have any further questions and good luck on your decision if nothing else just come on up for a visit and let us take you on a tour.

Hope this helps,

Hi Mike-Greensboro is a great area to raise children. We have a lot of communities that meet your criteria. A good way to narrow it down would be to determine how close you would like to be to your place of employment. You can check out things to do in the area by going to my website http://www.thetriadagent.com and clicking on Area Links >> Things to Do. There is a special section for kids! I recommend my clients check out the school report cards at http://www.ncreportcards.org/src/ and select Guilford County because there is a wealth of information for you at your fingertips!

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. I love Greensboro and would love to tell you more about the area!
