Can you describe how Kentfield looks and feels for a person that has never lived here?

Do residents maintain their homes and lawns? Are there dramatic differences between different neighborhoods or zip codes? Is there a dominant architecture throughout the city?

Kentfield is a small town in the center of the most desirable part of Marin County. There is not true city, but a small center with two areas of stores, but it's mostly a residential town. Being such a prime place to live, homeowners go to great lengths to make their home reflect that reality. Whether it be small home in the flats of a larger home in the hills or the enclave of Kent Woodlands, most people have remodeled their homes to reflect the 21st century style. Most homes were built in the 60's, but as in all Marin, there are pockets of hundred year old homes, summer cottages or hunting lodges or great estates, maintained, expanded and modernized. The style of homes were mainly ranch, but there are so many other styles it's hard to keep track.

FIRST ANSWER
Kentfield is gorgeous, leafy and well-established. Single-family home prices begin in the low $800,000's and top out in the $10-12,000,000 range. Commute to SF is fairly easy and takes appx 30 minutes via Highway 101. The Larkspur Ferry is closeby and delivers commuters to San Francisco in 30-40 minutes.

High scale neighborhood surrounded by other high scale neighborhoods like Ross, Greenbrae, Larkspur and San Anselmo. Weather is beautiful and sunny,stays around 80 degrees throughout the summer compared to Southern Marin which gets very foggy and cold.Feels like country living yet your 2o minutes to the city.The beauty of this area is it is not a planned community so it is loaded with charm and elegance. Incredible tree lined streets, level lawns in the flats and million dollar views of Mt. Tam and the San Francisco Bay in the higher elevations.

Since property values are so high, most owners do maintain their properties with the help of gardeners. In both Kentfield and Greenbrae, there are Homeowner Associations that contribute to the landscaping of the medians. Kentfield is dotted with little neighborhoods joined by a bike/walking path that takes you from the water to Ross Valley.
