Can you describe how Madison looks and feels for a person that has never lived here?

Do residents maintain their homes and lawns? Are there dramatic differences between different neighborhoods or zip codes? Is there a dominant architecture throughout the city?

Think creme brulee, with a mango/rasberry smoothie and a gyro on the side!

Madison, Wisconsin is an incredible place to work and play. The University offers an incredible array of things to do i.e., events, concerts, exhibitions, etc. The population, as a whole, is progressive and Madison consistently tries to improve the quality of life for its citizens. Also, it is just beautiful. I suggest reading the link below, as it outline some of the best features of this city.

Madison is diverse, dynamic and progressive. I mean come on, Robert Redford selected Madison to have the first Sundance Theatre here. Madison had many different types and areas. You have Willy St. to Middleton. State St. to the lakes. The University brings students in from all over the country and they stay here. There is not a dominant architecture but Frank Lloyd Wright's touch and influence can be felt in many areas. Madison is a very "green" city. No matter what background you have, job you have or place you live, everyone gets together for Badger football saturday. It is an united city.

The Madison Metro area and Dane County offers a vitality and progressive nature that is uncommon to other areas of the country. Named several years ago by Money Magazine as the best place to live in America, Madison has only enhanced that honor over the years. The pride of homeownership is evident no matter which community you choose within Dane County. And adding to that the youthfulness and energy given to the city through the University of Wisconsin, and major national employers like Kraft Foods and Cuna Mutual, you have a metro area that offers low unemployment, a very stable economy and -- with four surrounding lakes -- a breathtakingly beautiful place to live.
