My name is Young Park Allen with Coldwell Banker Southern Marin and I live in Tiburon. My husband and I have been developing properties in Marin County since 1996; we have developed and lived in properties in Mill Valley, Tiburon, and Kent Woodlands. We liked Tiburon the best. The proximity to San Francisco, children’s school system and World Class views are just incomparable.
Most of the Western part of the Tiburon Peninsula has a view of the city, and Golden Gate Bridge if situated on the hillsides. This side is closer to the ferry station and Old Town area. Generally speaking, the Eastern part is not as densely populated as the Western side, and mostly access via Trestle Glen to Paradise Drive. The Belvron area is mostly all flatland and with no sensational views in most locations. The Reed Lands area is close to the highway and mixture of flatland and some hilly areas. A lot of homes have fantastic southern exposures and city views. All of Tiburon area is considered safe.
I am a big aficionado of Tiburon. I can really get into all the details of what Tiburon can offer for you and your family. I would also say that Kent Woodlands / Ross have terrific aspects, as well.

I see you are looking at moving to Marin From DC? I'm not sure if you are ever in town looking at homes or visiting, but I thought you might be interested in attending a Free seminar I put on that would be exactly what you are looking for. It's called Marin Community, School and Home Seminar. This seminar is primarily for families that aren't that familiar with Marin County. In it I go over all of the towns, weather patterns (Did you know that Tiburon and Southern Marin can be colder than other parts of Marin the summer, a LOT colder?)
My next date for the seminar is later this month, here is the link for it:
If you are not able to attend in person, feel free to call me and we can do a live chat via Skype or something like that to give you a more personalized "Seminar".
As other posters below have indicated, all of TIburon is fabulous. What differs is your proximity to schools, the freeway, walkable neighborhoods, micro weather patterns and more. A lot of that depends upon your price point.
I'm a mom to young children myself and specialize in families.
All my best and good luck with your move to Marin, you'll love living here!
Many of my satisfied clients have moved to Tiburon and have made it their home, raising their children and enjoying all that it offers young families. I once had a client from Belgium who researched the world for a place to raise his family and came to the conclusion that Tiburon was the best!
As far as safety goes in Marin County, Tiburon and Belvedere are a very safe bet and ANY of the neighborhoods are safe. The reasons are that there is limited road access to the towns (via Tiburon Blvd. and Paradise Dr. only) and there is a very trained police department with it's own security force. Here is some data with all the stats at the end of this page for you to review:
Entry level housing in Tiburon would be Belveron East and West, and the areas there are abundant with children - the houses were built in the 50's and are ranch style. Over the years, several have been remodeled and expanded....it's a great community of famiies.
Then you have different neighborhoods off Tiburon Blvd. in the hillls with varying degrees of views, terrain, level land, and price ranges. What's nice is the great walking path that borders the water from Blackies Pasture to the downtown area of Tiburon and Belvedere - a great meeting spot!
During the summer, there is Friday Nights on Main where the downtown area is blocked off and residents gather for food and entertainment for the whole family. A real small town feeling where you can catch up with your neighbors.
Hope this helps!

My name is Ken Dara w/ Decker Bullock Sotheby's. I live and specialize in Tiburon. Most the homes are built on Hillsides with smaller lawns. People move here for the schools and the amazing view. Tiburon is very safe. There are areas like Bel Aire which are large flat lots and very family centric, but no water views. Halloween there is amazing. Feel free to call me at 415.425.3626 I would be happy to answer any other questions you may have. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org. I have two young children 5 and 1.
i can answer your question about Tiburon. I have lived in the county all my life and lived
in Tiburon for most of it.
Tiburon is a very safe place to live and very little crime if any. That goes for most of Marin too except for two other cities north and south of Tiburon and it is basically car break ins and some robberies.
If your looking to purchase or rent in Marin County, Tiburon is a safe bet as far as low crime and great schools for your children.
