I believe you are looking to rent and best way to start in your situation would be to ask friends, family, church minister etc. that can highly recommend a real estate agent that they have worked with. Once you identify the agent you want to work with explain the credit situation and most importantly circumstances that caused the credit to go bad and what has changed now that will put on a path of better financial health going forward. If you can show your current paystubs, previous two years W-2's and verifiable job references that will help your situation. Rental market in most areas in very strong and land lords have many tenants to choose from so you should definitely work with someone that is referred from trusted sources and can help you.
Best wishes.

Unclear are you looking to buy or rent...if looking to buy--there are other factors besides credit that determine mortgage qualification, therefore for a personalized answer visit with any licensed loan officer. If looking to rent--much will depend on the landlord/building, each is different; however you can consider being upfront regarding your credit; be prepared to show proof of employment/pay stubs; possibly pre-pay some of the rent; possibly offer extra security; have some reference letters handy; consider a guarantor, etc.

yes, however, you should tell your agent about your bad credit before he shows you any apartments for rent.....some landlords are very strict about credit scores while others main concern is that you are working and can afford the rent and don't have any housing court issues.......you agent should steer you towards a landlord who is not strict about credit scores.......

Ever thought about cleaning up your credit. Not all credit repair companies are the same.
Our company can and will remove all derogatory items.
Our process can take as little as two weeks and as long as 60 days.

Yvette,

You can apply try working with a rental specialist and discuss with them what is going with your credit. Our office offers a huge variety of rentals in the Bronx. You will need to call 347-202-4965, we are open 7 days a week and have flexible hours too.

You will need to get your most recent credit report? The more paperwork you have the better it looks, try to gather you last 2 years tax returns along with your W2's, any letters of employment, references previous landlord information. Please be aware if you have had past Landlord/Tenant court issues it will be hard but not impossible. Also the landlord might require additional rent or security deposit. If your in position to due that it also shows good faith.

Best of Luck!

I agree with Gerald, consult a reputable lender, even if they can't help you right now, they may be able to assist in getting your score where it needs to be in order to apply for a loan.

A good lender will be able to steer you in the right direction in order to qualify for a mortgage.

Yvette,

You should still apply. Each building has their own criteria.

Please still apply. Sometimes credit is not always the issue.

Anyone can apply, but you might not get it because of the credit. But you can try.
