Can anyone tell me anything about Warren County, New Jersey (and especially Phillipsburg High School)?

We have mostly been concentrating our search in Hunterdon County, but have stumbled across a possibly great match for us just across the border into Warren County. I'd be eager to hear about anything that I need to consider before making a move that direction. Thanks so much!!

Thanks for the offer! We actually have a fantastic agent (also Weichert) that we are already working with, so we get all of the current/new listings and price changes. She's been a great sport through our very, very slow decision making process. :-)

Hunterdon County has blue ribbon school systems. What kind of work do you do? Then I will have an idea of there are jobs were you can bike to. What town do you work so I can have an idea of how far you need to travel? Did you check out my website at http://www.JeanVilla.com ? If you click on the JustListed icon and enter your information in, I can email you listings of houses in the price range and other detailed information. Let me know if I can help you. Thanks for your input. We haven't moved yet...still working on figuring out exactly where we want to be...for school reasons, as well as travel to work. The current ability to bike to work is a huge plus for us...something that might be a bit tough from Warren County. We'll see. Thanks again!!

Realtors can point you to school websites but we can't state positive or negatives against them. If you would like a site, let me know. Did you decide to move yet?

The Phillipburg sending distric has made some very positive changes recently, especially with the new construction in the area! (Wyndham Farms Estates for example) Your best bet is to visit the school yourself and ask a lot of questions. Also, speak with the parents you run into at the school. Perhaps visit a school event and speak with the parents. That will provide the best information.
As I mentioned, I live in Warren County and will be happy to meet with you and help you in your search.

Unfortunately, in NJ we as real estate agents have to be careful about what we say with regard to a community or school district. That's a requirement of the NJ Real Estate Commission.

As for differences from town to town, in NJ there can be huge differences in everything from tax rates to community involvement.

If you'd like to get a better sense of the area try going out on a Saturday or Sunday stop by any community events that might be taking place or drop by some garage sales and talk to residents. If you're involved with a community group or church in the area you live now, ask them for a contact in the Phillipsburg area.

As for the Abbott school districts, yes more money has been allocated but it was mis spent in the past, so only time will tell.

Good luck!

Thanks for the information and the links. I guess that we are familiar with some of the stats that are available online. We were hoping for a little bit more "personal" information, if that makes sense...information based on experience rather than just the numbers. Maybe about the community in general?
We're being told that the population is quite different from Hunterdon County, but feel as if we have to take that with a grain of salt from Hunterdon County folks (snob factor, perhaps?). I'm wondering if it can really be that different just a few miles down the road.
Any concerns about resale (or at least more so than in Hunterdon County)?
The status as an Abbott district...is that something that we should be concerned about? Our kids are still young, but we're still uncertain. Do those sort of classifications change with any frequency? Any anticipated change as a result of approval for the new high school funding?
Thanks again!!

The school ISD would provide you stat's reference to the High School. Check Trulia stat's trends for additional information. Direct link of a website could assist you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_County,_New_Jersey
