I am looking at a home there. How desireable is the area considered? To get there through WC boro you have to drive through a few blocks that don't look very nice. Is that a high crime area? How convenient is this area to local highways during rush hour? Are there any things I should know about this area before moving there? Thanks a lot.
Ann, I have been a resident of East Bradford Township for just over 16 years. It is the nicest area of West Chester. It's very convenient to downtown, but far enough away to have a lot of peace and quiet. There is an average of 1 acre per person living in the township (i.e., lots of open space). There are several condo and townhome communities, but there are also beautiful horse farms and estates, and everything in between. The township has taken a great interest in maintaining open space, and there are several great parks for hiking and dog walking. There are also various places to drop your canoe or kayak in the Brandywine River. The township is wonderful for young and old, single and married - I can't imagine anyone not loving it here. The only drawback is that homes in East Bradford tend to be pretty expensive (though they've continued to appreciate, even in this down economy). If you can afford to buy a home in East Bradford, you can't go wrong! P.S. I am not a realtor.
I live in E. Bradford and love it. I a young agent 24, and recently bought my first house. Email me at Adam.Bagelman@Century21.com and we can discuss it further.
Ann,
I thought I posted an answer earlier but do not see it and am not familiar with the mechanics of this online forum and probably did it wrong. East Bradford is a desirable area that is somewhat varied as this township wraps around the west side of West Chester and then some. I've lived in East Bradford Twp for almost 19 years and in the West Chester area for 32 years. You can email me directly at vwdriver@comcast.net. What specific questions would you like answers to? I do not sell real estate or anything else.
Eric
Hi Ann,
East Bradford is a very desirable section of West Chester, and, there are many ways to get there without driving through town. Specifically, if coming from Route 202 North, there is a way by Route 322 and if coming from South, there are back roads through some very beautiful countryside off of Birmingham Road.
The area has always been quite prestigious and the property values have always stayed high (over the last 20 years).
It is very convenient for commuting and you can easily access shopping in many different directions. Depending on where you are moving from, it sounds like you would really benefit from an "overview of the area tour" which is completed by most Realtors when someone moves from out of the area.
I hope this helps and thankyou for the opportunity.
Thanks Mike for responding but actually your answer isn't what I am looking for. I already have a realtor. I was hoping I could get opinions on the area from locals. I'd like to get a feel for the area from people that live there. Thanks!
There is a pruidential Real Estate agent that I know specializes in the West Chester area.
His name is Gary Mercer and his office number is484-678-6435.
Hope this helps
Mike Rayno
