Building Permits/ Builder Info

Where can I find info on whether any bulding permits (remodelling/repairs) have been applied for a particular house?

Also, is it possible to find who the original builder (not owner) of a house is?

Thanks!

I've often visited the Jefferson Street Municipal Center in Oak Cliff to obtain copies of permits. The records room is in the basement.

Most of the time you can find out through the tax records who the original builder was on a home. Check out http://www.dallascad.org if you are looking in Dallas county.

For the permits, many many people don't apply for a permit if the work is done on the inside of the home. This is something I have found out through my 15 years in real estate. You can check with the city of Dallas on that particular home, again if you are looking within the city of Dallas. Here is a link for contact info. http://www.dallascityhall.com/building_inspection/index.html

I'll be happy to assist if you need help. Don't hesitate to contact me.
